Choose your yoga mat to be as comfortable as Aladdin on his own.

Material will be our first guideline

First priority: the material! Yoga is part of a healthy process that respects both your body and the planet. Yes, because as you already know, everything's connected. That's why my first tip is to choose a natural material (rubber, jute, cork...) and avoid toxic PVC-type materials! BOOOOOOO!

Avoid slippery materials. Instead, choose materials that stick to the ground and to your body. Because slipping and breaking a wrist is anything but Yogi! Hahaha!

Thickness, a crucial consideration

The rule is: the thicker your mat, the less stability you'll have. In the end, it all depends on the yoga type you are practicing, but for all dynamic yoga, including yoga dance, it's best to use a thinner mat, to ensure good balance. A standard yoga mat is 4mm thick.

The longer the better ?

I personally like it when I can stretch along the length of my mat without sticking out. I like to be able to keep my hands and feet on it in every pose. So it all depends on your size, but always take one that's bigger than you are!

To summarize

A material that respects your body and the planet, the right thickness for your yoga style, and the right length for your comfort. All of these criteria will help you choose the right mat to meet your needs. And if it doesn't take off (let's be realistic), you don't need a genie to make your spirit fly and join Aladdin in a whole new world.. All you need is a good yoga session along with a great mat! 😉

Welcoming a beginner to a yoga class is about more than just softening the practice or skipping inversions.
It's about building trust, offering an accessible and positive experience, and creating a true first encounter with yoga. Because those first few sessions leave a lasting impression: they can open the door to a regular practice… or close it abruptly if the student doesn’t feel seen, safe, or welcome.
As a teacher, you have the power to create a space that feels both supportive and inspiring. In this article, we explore the key pillars of a well-designed beginner class: mindset, structure, common pitfalls to avoid, and practical tips for teaching with clarity, patience, and kindness.

Whether you're a passionate practitioner or a teacher in training, understanding the human body changes everything : you practice with awareness, you teach with precision, and above all, you share with compassion.

A yoga session doesn't simply end with the last asana or a "Namaste."
It truly integrates through a very special moment: the final relaxation , also known as Savasana, cool-down, or conscious rest.
This moment is anything but trivial. It is a space of subtle transformation , where the body assimilates, the energy settles, and the mind releases.
And it’s the quality of the guidance that determines the depth of that release.

Teaching yoga is not just about guiding asanas or correcting postures. It is about embodying a subtle and powerful role — a form of presence that goes far beyond technical instruction. It’s a personal commitment, an inner posture that is physical, mental, emotional, relational, and ethical. Your teaching posture is what gives meaning to your presence as a teacher. It connects your personal journey to your role as a guide. It cannot be imitated — it is discovered, shaped, and refined over time, through practice, experience, and human connection.
